Intégrale records / Frémeaux & Associés

Complete edition with 18 CDs

Important complete edition

Integrale Records
(or the label Frémeaux & Associés, often referred to as Integrale) has released a comprehensive complete edition of Mahalia Jackson's recordings. This series is renowned for its meticulous compilation and restoration of historical recordings.

This is a very comprehensive collection that presents Mahalia Jackson's recordings in chronological order. The series consists of 18 CDs, each covering a specific period of her career (e.g., "Intégrale Vol. 1: 1937-1946," "Intégrale Vol. 16: 1961 - Mahalia Sings Part 3," etc.).

The issues were published between 1998 (Vol. 1) and 2018 (Vol. 18).

The aim of the "Intégrale" series is to present Mahalia Jackson's complete works. The CDs are arranged chronologically to trace the development of her career. This collection is uniquely successful in achieving this.

Careful sound restoration
The label strives to get the best possible audio quality out of the often historical original recordings without distorting the original sound. And as a vinyl lover, I have to say that, with a few exceptions, they have succeeded impressively!

The CDs also include detailed liner notes (in French and English) that provide insights into Mahalia Jackson's life, her recordings, and the significance of her music.

Significance
This complete edition is of enormous significance. It is of great value to fans, enthusiasts, and musicologists interested in the history of Mahalia Jackson, gospel, and African-American music culture, as it brings together all the relevant recordings in one place.
