Richard Hazard (born March 2, 1921 in Trenton, New Jersey; died December 20, 2000 in Los Angeles, California) was a respected American television composer, orchestrator, conductor, and songwriter. He was married to Jeanne Taylor from 1950 until his death and had two children.
Hazard composed music for numerous television series and films, including well-known titles such as “Mannix” (1967–1972) and “Mission: Impossible” (1969–1972), as well as films such as “Airplane II: The Sequel” (1982). He was also a sought-after arranger and worked on albums for artists such as Andy Williams and Barbra Streisand. He also orchestrated Broadway productions such as “They're Playing Our Song.”
Richard Hazard received numerous awards for his outstanding work, including several Daytime Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for a Drama Series” for the television series “The Guiding Light” (1991, 1992, 1994, 1996) and “Another World” (1995). He was a versatile and prolific personality who had a significant influence on the American music scene, particularly in the field of film and television composition.
